The DataBlast 2.10 release introduces a new modular licensing system for DataBlast Pro, support for a more efficient database format in Ignite, and a suite of targeted enhancements across drill and blast workflows. These updates aim to give you more flexibility in how you configure, use, and maintain DataBlast on your site.
A key change in this release is the introduction of a new licensing model for DataBlast Pro. The new Pro Starter licence offers a base installation with optional add-ons for BlastPad support, drill import, and reporting functionality—ideal if you need only a subset of features. The original Pro Core licence remains available and includes all functionality by default. You can also now purchase additional workstation or BlastPad licences separately. DataBlast Ignite continues to be licensed per machine and retains its single-user model.
This release also transitions DataBlast Ignite to use SQLite as the database format to remove the previous database size restriction of 10 GB. The change is designed to be seamless, with backup and restore processes automatically handling conversions from the LocalDB format.
Backfill calculations are now more flexible, thanks to two new options in advanced mine site settings. The simplified backfill mode lets you generate backfill sheets without creating a full backfill pattern, reducing unnecessary complexity for straightforward jobs. Additionally, you can now calculate backfill quantities using any available measured depth rather than being limited to dip depths. These changes make the backfill workflow easier to adapt to different site requirements.
Initiation design has also been enhanced to support safer and more intuitive planning. A new Process Firing Radius option highlights drillholes that fire within the same delay window and are within a user-defined proximity, helping to flag potential high-energy interactions. These visual warnings make it easier to assess the blast safety. The Detonator/Cord Selection screen has been simplified to display only two levels at a time, reducing time spent scrolling through product lists, and timing exports now follow your Windows regional settings for better compatibility.

Several improvements have been made to drill machine interfaces. DataBlast now includes a new WencoMine connection, offering direct database access with automated reprocessing and timestamp tracking for more reliable drill log imports in Pro. This new interface complements the renamed WencoLite option, and configuration settings have been reorganised to improve clarity. DataBlast Ignite receives a simplified configuration screen as drill import is not supported on that platform.
Other module improvements include support for the new Datamine .dmx file format when importing block models and drawings, which allows for extended attributes, Unicode characters, and smaller file sizes. Drill processing includes an option to ignore invalid collar or toe GPS locations, making it easier to work with inconsistent log data. A number of interface refinements—such as clearer licence information on the About screen and improved hole filter visibility during maintenance—round out the release with thoughtful usability updates.
About DataBlast
DataBlast covers the entire open pit drill and blast (D&B) process, from design to firing, using CAD-based design tools and an intuitive user interface. Used by D&B engineers and operators, DataBlast enables detailed D&B pattern design and efficient management of field operations, including drilling, quality assurance, charging, and initiation. DataBlast ensures safe, consistent, and high-quality blasting with features like firing simulations, contour and charge analysis, and vibration modelling. DataBlast Pro, a multi-user system, includes field data capture and a reporting data source, integrating seamlessly with BlastPad for complete control over D&B implementations. DataBlast Ignite, a stand-alone desktop solution, offers the same design tools and incorporates field data without the need for additional IT infrastructure.
