DataBlast 2.9 Public Release

PLANNING-DataBlast-2.9

The latest DataBlast release introduces a new firing module for improved safety and firing pattern management, advanced drill collar elevation control in BlastPad, even more flexibility with custom properties, enhanced help documentation, charge standards interchange, and simplified licensing.

One of the key new features is the Firing Module, designed to map firing plans with advanced annotations and safety ranges. You can now configure firing patterns based on authorised initiation patterns, ensuring accuracy and compliance. The module also includes flyrock safety calculations with a user-defined safety factor and allows you to create visual safety boundaries. In addition, the Layers toolbar offers enhanced visibility options for flyrock ranges and scaled depth of burial, helping operators to manage safety-critical data effectively.

A significant enhancement has been made for drill collar elevation entry, where users can now override the design collar RL directly via BlastPad. Depending on the configuration, the hole depth, angle and bearing, or else the hole toe position, will be recalculated, allowing for more flexibility during drilling operations. Holes can also be filtered in the Viewport by this per-hole configuration.

Custom properties can now be defined for a specific hole pattern type; for example, drill patterns, charge or firing patterns, giving greater flexibility in defining and managing hole patterns. An upgrade to this release also automatically converts existing text strings in CAD print borders into custom properties, improving the workflow for site-specific customisation.

The help documentation has been upgraded from CHM to HTML5 format, providing an improved user experience and easier navigation. During installation, a local copy of the help files is saved, but users can opt to use the latest online version. DataBlast also now has context-sensitive help, giving you relevant information based on the active screen or module. Descriptions for the DataBlast Pro Reporting Database views have been added to the help documentation, making it even more comprehensive.

To make it possible to transfer the configuration of charge standards between mine site databases, charge standards can be exported to a file and imported. DataBlast now requires .NET Framework 4.8 and we’ve simplified licensing for DataBlast Pro, making it easier to manage workstation and BlastPad licences.

About DataBlast

DataBlast covers the entire open pit drill and blast (D&B) process, from design to firing, using CAD-based design tools and an intuitive user interface. Used by D&B engineers and operators, DataBlast enables detailed D&B pattern design and efficient management of field operations, including drilling, quality assurance, charging, and initiation. DataBlast ensures safe, consistent, and high-quality blasting with features like firing simulations, contour and charge analysis, and vibration modelling. DataBlast Pro, a multi-user system, includes field data capture and a reporting data source, integrating seamlessly with BlastPad for complete control over D&B implementations. DataBlast Ignite, a stand-alone desktop solution, offers the same design tools and incorporates field data without the need for additional IT infrastructure.
