Job Description
The Business Development Manager – Australia, Datamine Portfolio plays a critical role in driving growth across Datamine’s full suite of mining technology solutions within the Australian market.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive regional sales and business development strategy that strengthens Datamine’s market leadership across exploration, resource modelling, mine planning, operations, and sustainability solutions.
This role combines strategic account management, new business acquisition, and collaboration across Datamine’s global network to deliver value to mining customers at every stage of the value chain.
Responsibilities

Regional Sales Strategy and Market Development:
- Develop and execute a sales plan to expand Datamine’s footprint within the Australian mining sector.
- Identify and prioritise key customer segments, growth opportunities, and industry trends to drive market share and revenue growth.
- Align regional sales objectives with Datamine’s global strategic direction and overall business targets.
- Deliver accurate pipeline management, forecasts, and sales reporting to support business planning.

Business Development and Account Growth:
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with customers at all levels, from technical users to senior executives, ensuring Datamine remains a trusted partner.
- Manage existing key accounts to maximise retention and expansion opportunities through cross-sell and upsell initiatives.
- Identify and close new customer opportunities within both established mining hubs and emerging operations across Australia.
- Represent Datamine at key regional industry events, conferences, and trade shows to strengthen visibility and brand recognition.

Collaboration and Team Alignment:
- Work closely with marketing, product management, and technical service teams to ensure customer needs are addressed and value is consistently delivered.
- Partner with Datamine’s global sales and business development teams to share insights, coordinate multinational accounts, and support regional growth initiatives.
- Engage with other Vela and Constellation Software companies to identify joint opportunities and drive synergies across the portfolio.

Deal Negotiation and Contract Management:
- Lead all commercial discussions, from proposal development and pricing strategy through to negotiation and closure.
- Ensure commercial terms align with company policy and provide win–win outcomes for Datamine and its customers.
- Support smooth transition from contract signing to implementation, maintaining strong client satisfaction and engagement.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in enterprise or B2B software sales within the mining technology or industrial digital solutions sectors.
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in a quota-carrying role with demonstrable revenue growth and account expansion achievements.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, value chain processes, and digital transformation trends across the Australian resources industry.
- Excellent relationship management, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Geosciences, or related discipline (MBA preferred).
- Highly self-motivated with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performing global team.
- Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally.
Compensation
Remuneration commensurate with skills and experience will combine a fixed salary and on-target performance earnings. Includes uncapped earnings potential with attractive accelerators for overachievement.
