Get to know Erick a little better through the interview below:
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born and raised in Bandung, Indonesia. I started my professional career as an Android Developer in 2016 after completing a Bachelor Degree. Initially, I was interested in programming, especially Android, because I liked seeing my coding results visually within a user interface. I also like to challenge myself to learn new things so I can broaden my horizons and grow professionally. This is why I really look forward to my current role at Datamine that will certainly bring many new challenges.
Can you explain some of the challenges you consult to your clients on and how you help them improve?
It’s all about understanding client requirements. As a developer, we need to ensure that we understand our client’s needs & wants first so we can choose the technology that meets all their expectations. Only then we can truly help our clients achieve their objectives and build trust as a leader in the field.
What inspired your career in this industry?
I love everything about Android especially the technology involved. The more I learn, the more I realise how little I know. This triggers me to learn and grow even more. Taking on a new role allows me to empty my bucket so I can fill it with lots of new lessons and give the best for the company. And now, my bucket is about to be filled with some great experiences with Datamine.
What is the most satisfying aspect of your role / the work you do?
As a Senior Android Developer, I will be involved in finding new and effective ways to display database data in the Discover App’s UI. This makes me very excited. I find it very satisfying to solve problems small or big to identify solutions that can improve results.
What are your best memories from your career?
When I first released my own app, I had mixed feelings. I never imagined in my life that I could produce an app that could be used by so many people. I am always very grateful when I receive feedback. Both positive and negative feedback is a great driver that makes me want to improve the quality of my work.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I spend almost all my time in my room, I can sit or lie down playing games all day and all night especially on weekends.
