Studio Mapper 4.2 focuses on smarter map management, delivering greater stability, faster performance, and new wireframe editing tools for a more efficient mapping workflow.
Users will benefit from a significant performance upgrade when creating, closing, and loading maps, especially at sites with large databases that previously suffered slowdowns.
The Wireframe Map screen lets you trim scans using either strings or planes, with a tablet-friendly experience that lets erroneous scans be fixed quickly at the face before mapping. 3D images also retain their associated textures after any edits are applied. This not only helps clean things up, such as faulty LIDAR due to water, but also to split up larger performance-hogging open pit models into smaller, more manageable data. You can slice by string or plane.
Map import and export options have also been expanded, including importing maps from external databases, exporting to CSV, and filtering specific subsets of data. Another improvement is that you can now load multiple point and wireframe files when creating a 3D map, particularly useful for multi-surface maps.
You can also unload one or more maps using a new Unload Maps command and, when you close and reopen a project, previously open maps are reinstated.
Still on the mapping side, you can now dynamically enter strike/dip direction values, particularly relevant to level and back mapping.
Smaller updates include capturing vertical sections in centimeters, a new Rocscience (.dips) export driver, 3D and Map window visual speedups, an updated project data bar that exposes the full functionality of the sheets bar, and several tablet usability improvements.
Definitely a worthy update for Studio Mapper customers, or a great place to start!
