COURSE OVERVIEW

The course focuses on the practical application of open pit mine design, mine planning and evaluation using Studio NPVS and Studio OP. The program also has useful application for others involved with mine design including scheduling, planning and operational production.

LEARNING OUTCOMES (PIT OPTIMIZATION USING STUDIO NPVS)

At the completion of this section of the programme participants will gain:

• Be at ease with configuring the interface and creating, manipulating and saving projects and files. Understand the principles of the Datamine file format and standard fields for each data type.
• Have confidence in creating wireframe surfaces and solids for representing surface topography and open pit designs.
• Proficiency in generating optimal ultimate pits, pushback designs and creating practical strategic mine schedules.
• Understand and getting skills to use an alternative technique beyond NPV for pit optimization to maximize mine life or resource recovery.

LEARNING OUTCOMES (OPEN PIT MINE DESIGN USING STUDIO OP)

At the completion of this course participants will have the ability to:

• Manage projects with an easy-to-use framework.
• Skills using import the ultimate pit shell from a pit optimization program.
• Have confidence in loading and viewing the orebody model, terrain model and other design data.
• Use the design tools in Studio OP to create a detailed pit and waste dump designs including contours, berms, switchbacks and road definitions, manually and automatically.
• Ability to update a phase DTM with designed pit infrastructure.
• Have confidence in creating and analysing multiple outputs with advanced reporting and charting tools.
