The Aegis 2025.1 release delivers a powerful set of enhancements that broaden reporting capabilities, refine drill planning workflows, and improve overall usability.
A key addition is support for tangential drilling configurations, providing greater flexibility by allowing pivot points to be offset from the hole line—accommodating a wider range of drill types. To support this, Aegis expands the drill database form with new tangential mast dimension properties. These updates are fully backward compatible with existing projects.
The release introduces a wireframe evaluation workflow, allowing users to run evaluations directly on selected wireframes without needing to generate shapes from rings. Each wireframe retains only its most recent evaluation to ensure clarity, with evaluation details fully visible in the wireframe properties.
Reporting functionality has been significantly enhanced through the introduction of custom variables for Ring Sets, Points, Polylines, Wireframes, and Planes. Conditional Style Grids for Points, Polylines, and Wireframes can now access these variables directly in their logic, enabling more refined report outputs. For Ring Sets, variables are accessible via custom formulas in reports, supporting highly tailored content. A new Plane Table and Wireframe Table have been added to the Report Editor, both with full sorting and filtering support—including access to custom variables. The Wireframe Table also includes results from the new evaluation workflow.
Additional usability updates include the ability to round hole lengths to the nearest increment for operational consistency, new charge length formulas for more detailed explosive analysis in reports, and drill convention-aware formatting for Minnovare CORE exports. Lastly, Aegis now checks folder access on startup, alerting you to any file system issues early to prevent disruptions.
About Aegis
Aegis, comprising Aegis Designer and Aegis Analyzer, is created by mining engineers to design blasts for underground mines, including slot design and placement, charging, priming, timing, and more. With its extensive range of editing tools, Aegis Designer enables the creation of drill and blast patterns for an entire stope in seconds, allowing engineers to easily explore alternative designs. By swiftly generating customisable reports and IREDES exports, it facilitates the rapid transition of actionable designs into production. Aegis Analyzer is the most advanced underground blast analysis program globally and enables engineers to observe how changes to a pattern impact fragmentation, tonnage, cavity, costs, and profit. It is used to optimise ring patterns to maximise recovery, productivity, and profitability.
