Studio UG 3.3 Public Release

PLANNING-Studio-UG-3.3

Here are some highlights from the latest Studio UG release – Datamine’s toolkit for underground mine design and scheduling:

Wireframe Segment Grouping allows you to define a design group, associating multiple activities with a common “parent” activity for better organisation. For example, you may want to generate a single backfill activity for a group of adjacent stopes, or even all stopes from a level or, in the shorter term, group wireframe solids that represent each ring in order to create activities executed for multiple rings, for example blast and backfill.

EPS Synchronisation improvements offer more control over production units of exported fields, with default values for task rates, durations, constraints, and dependencies defined on the Design Definitions screen. Dependency Editing Quick Keys have been added for faster editing of dependencies; and performance enhancements optimise reprocessing of automatic attributes and speed up operations, performing duplicate data checks only when data has changed. The Legends Manager has been overhauled for easier use, with separate lists for legends and intervals, allowing for larger legends.

In previous versions, it was possible to set the Default Dependency Method to start after the latest predecessor activity link. You can now choose mining to start straight after the earliest predecessor link connection. This information is honoured in EPS animations and can be transferred to the EPS schedule (depending on new export options).

Last, but certainly not least, we have a new eLearning course for Studio UG users. This course, spread over 20 easy-to-follow modules, takes you through key aspects of the underground planning process and ribbon. It’s an excellent starting point for new users but may also be useful for existing underground planners as there are a lot of tips and tricks to discover. The course demonstrates the functionality available in Studio 3.2, so a lot of it has never been seen before.

About Studio UG

Studio UG is an integrated underground design and scheduling solution that provides mine engineers a streamlined experience from data preparation to scheduled activities. Its intuitive workflow supports long- and short-term planners, offering powerful tools for stope/reserves optimisation, mine design, planning, evaluation, and reporting. Studio UG features a unique single-step process for generating all scheduled activities from source data, ensuring efficiency and robustness for underground operations. Studio UG incorporates mine standards into templates, allowing multiple mine planners to work simultaneously and avoid redundancies, while synchronised block model views and point cloud representations help them visualise all aspects of the underground mine. Integrated scheduling features enable rapid updates with design changes, preserving manual interventions and enhancing productivity.
