Studio Survey 3.0 Public Release

PLANNING-Studio-Survey-3.0

Studio Survey 3.0 introduces the new Datamine .dmx file format alongside major enhancements to plotting, data importing, and 3D performance to better handle modern mining data requirements.

With the mining industry’s growing data complexity, Datamine has introduced the .dmx file format to replace the long-standing .dm format, offering smaller file sizes and support for up to 2048 columns. Your Studio applications now generate .dmx files by default while maintaining full compatibility with legacy files. You can view both formats in the Table Editor, and a conversion utility is available for bulk file updates. Additionally, .dmx files now support table tagging, letting you embed model statuses or spatial context directly within files for easier data management.

A Development Report with loaded DMX survey and design data

Plotting workflows have been significantly overhauled with new context-sensitive ribbons for each plot item type, making editing projections, title boxes, north arrows, and other elements more intuitive. The Plots (Manage) and Plots (View) ribbons have been combined to simplify navigation, and new cell managers improve control over tabular data within title boxes. For pit reporting, you can now generate end-of-month pit reports across multiple pit areas in a single template for clearer operational insights.

3D visualisation performance has been optimised with Render on Demand settings and automated scene clipping, ensuring large datasets render quickly and efficiently. A preview feature for filled wireframe intersections is also available, offering solid visualisation of clipped volumes in cross section. New processes such as INTEXT for text-to-Datamine file conversion makes report generation from multiple data sources quick and easy.

Finally, the new Text Importer screen simplifies importing multiple text files with individual configurations, while the release also includes Russian language localisation, enhanced scripting access for .dmx files, and numerous interface and performance improvements to support your EOM reporting workflows.
