The MineScape 2023 Update 6 release delivers significant enhancements across dragline design, underground coal workflows, and CAD functionality, giving you greater flexibility, improved visual interaction, and more efficient design control.
The Dragline App introduces a new scenario-based framework that allows you to manage multiple excavation strategies within a single block. Each scenario is saved as a dedicated file and linked to its associated replay and report outputs, all organised within the dragline folder by section and block. The redesigned Block tab supports this workflow with a scenario selector, replay import and export, a Continuous Replay option, and a Generate function for creating custom operation replay files from existing data. These updates make it easier to reuse designs, compare approaches, and streamline dragline planning across projects.
Visual and interaction improvements further enhance the dragline experience. You can now view material movement animations in both 2D and 3D during replay, providing clearer insight into cut and placement sequences. The addition of a 3D bird’s-eye Data View improves spatial awareness across multiple sections, while the new top-down placement mode increases accuracy and helps reduce collision risk. Supporting features such as automatic view switching during design, along with enhanced on-screen information display, contribute to a more intuitive and controlled workflow.
Reporting capabilities have also been expanded, with the Dragline Report Dock now including Hours, Easting, and Northing, along with full Excel export support. Reports are automatically generated and stored alongside scenario and replay files, ensuring all relevant data is organised and easily accessible for further analysis and decision-making.
In the UG Coal App, the new Interactive Longwall tool allows you to generate a complete longwall layout—including roads and pillars—by simply drawing a centre-line in the CAD window. You can adjust parameters directly from the ribbon and see immediate updates, enabling rapid iteration before committing the final design. Additionally, a new Append Button has been added to both the Interactive Pillars and Interactive Longwall tools, providing greater control over how temporary graphics are applied and allowing you to define rendering limits for complex layouts.
MineScape’s CAD functionality has also been extended to better support complex geological modelling and data exchange. You can now project elements onto surfaces above or below using expressions or surface inputs, giving you more control when working across varying elevations. CAD now also supports for importing MicroStation DGN files further improves interoperability, making it easier to incorporate external design data into your workflows.
